An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Investigate USPS delays

5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I'm a member of Indivisible CA33. I'm writing today to ask that you demand lawmakers call for an investigation into the actions of the Postmaster General Louis Dejoy (and major Trump donor!) to ensure that the USPS is given the resources and support it needs to function smoothly. There already exists a bi-partisan effort including two Republican Senators and over 80 members of the House to demand a reversal of the changes enacted by Dejoy and I urge you to join this group if you have not yet done so. A record number of voters plan to use mail-in ballots in light of the pandemic, and a reliable postal service is essential. In addition to my concerns about the election, I want to add that the USPS is a vital service to everyone in this country. Private carriers do not travel to rural areas. The GOP has been trying to privatize this service for years, dating back to the 2006 mandate that it pre-fund pensions for 75 years. No other entity has this requirement. If not for this, the USPS would be turning a profit. Thank you for your time and attention.
