URGENT: Please Sponsor HR1714

Please sponsor HR 1714 (Stop Militarizing Law Enforcement Act). Video and eyewitness accounts show that the use of excessive force on groups of peaceful demonstrators excercising their 1st amendment rights are what escalate protest into a riot. One of the reasons that looting and destruction of property occurs is to divert the attention of law enforcement away from peaceful protestors for their safety. This should not be necessary. I have seen people sitting on their knees peacefully get doused in mace. I have seen horribly disfiguring injuries caused by rubber bullets. I have seen innocent journalists being assaulted. It is clear by the behavior of undisciplined law enforcement that their emotions towards this conflict are interfering with the ability to do their jobs without terrorizing civilians indescriminently. Be a hero: sponsor HR1714. Show those that you represent that you are on the side of the people. We must be able to practice out first amendment rights without fear of injury or death, anything else is simply unacceptable.
