Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
I think today I’m going to just be an echo chamber for the absurd. Their words will speak louder than anything I can come up with.
“Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who tested positive last week, said in an interview with a conservative talk-show host that there is “a level of unjustifiable hysteria” about a virus that has killed nearly 210,000 Americans and asked, “Why do we think we actually can stop the progression of a contagious disease?”
(I’m glad he wasn’t working on the polio, smallpox, or Ebola vaccines. He would have said “Why bother. It is what it is.”)
He also kept saying he was “not downplaying covid,” while at the same time arguing that “the press has done such a good job in ingraining in almost everybody’s brain that if you get covid, it’s a death sentence. It’s not.”
(Glad to know that Sen. Johnson has some pipeline to the Almighty that lends him such confidence. And am glad he’s not my doctor.)
“He [DJT] has experience now of fighting the coronavirus as an individual,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Erin Perrine said on Fox News. “Those firsthand experiences, Joe Biden, he doesn't have those. Those firsthand experiences are what are going to get President Trump four more years.”
(I’m clapping for this one. Way to turn lemons into lemonade. You go girl.)
“”President Trump won’t have to recover from COVID. COVID will have to recover from President Trump,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) wrote in the tweet equivalent of a Chuck Norris GIF.”
“COVID stood NO chance against @realDonaldTrump!” tweeted Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.). She accompanied the message with a Wrestlemania GIF in which Trump attacks a man whose head had been replaced by a cartoon coronavirus. After punching the virus-head to the ground, he walks away grinning.
(Shameless, thy name is...see above.)
Okay, enough of that. At least Sen. Cornyn voiced a small displeasure with the way Mr. Trump has handled his mishandling of all things Covid.
“Sen John Cornyn (R-Tex.) told the Houston Chronicle Editorial board that Trump “let his guard down" on the pandemic.”
Baby steps gentlemen, baby steps.
