Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Tying up the week. Which is pretty much the same as the week before. And the week before that. Yadda yadda. Just more serious-as-a-heart-attack events wrapped in dereliction and denial.
Although after this morning’s Chris Wallace Fox interview with Mr. Trump at least we got a few good laughs. Some in incredulity. Some in anger. Some in embarrassment for the man being interviewed.
But it was good to know that our President was able to identity an elephant in his last cognitive test. I expect that it started to fall apart for him when you have to count backwards from 100 by 7.
I fully expected him to challenge Mr. Wallace to an arm wrestle.
Hmmmm...I think I’ve lost my point for writing this letter. Like the rest of America I’m losing my ability to focus on what’s important. I’ll try again.
This seems about par-for-the-course-of-incompetence: “The Trump administration is trying to block billions of dollars for states to conduct testing and contact tracing in an upcoming coronavirus relief bill, people involved in the talks said Saturday. The administration is also trying to block billions that GOP senators want to allocate for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the people said.”
Best headline: “Since when did being a Republican require stupidity on masks.”
Eyes-wide-shut: I’ll be right eventually,” [Mr. Trump] said. “I will be right eventually. You know, I said: ‘It’s [the virus] going to disappear.’ I’ll say it again … It’s going to disappear and I’ll be right.”
Biggest whopper yet: “Look,” the president said, “I take responsibility always for everything because it’s ultimately my job, too. I have to get everybody in line.”
Famous last words: “The examples of other countries that have more successfully dealt with this matter tell us that a different kind of leadership could have done better, and historians will try to figure out why Trump has proven so inept in the face of this particular crisis.” Historian David M. Kennedy
Yes indeed. Onward.
