An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Defense & Armed Services: YES on Schatz-Murkowski-Harris-Paul Amendment 2252

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to ask you to vote YES on the Schatz-Murkowski-Harris-Paul Amendment 2252. This Amendment would end the 1033 program, which provides military equipment to local schools and law enforcement agencies while skipping the budget application process where they would explain why they need landmine-resistant items, bayonets, armor-piercing firearms and ammunition, tear gas, and items from the Federal Supply Class of banned items. As you may be aware, tear gas is banned under the Geneva Convention as illegal chemical warfare. Yet police can use it at peaceful assemblies? Something is very wrong here. As a starting point and as something you can do from Congress to demilitarize schools and local law enforcement and thereby reduce police violence, please vote YES on Schatz-Murkowski-Harris-Paul Amendment 2252. Thank you. All the best and stay safe.
