I am sympathetic to the desire to start raising tax revenue and getting tourists back in Nashville, but I’m appalled that you would solicit holding the GOP Convention in Nashville without coordinating with the Mayor, especially as the Nation is still in the middle of a pandemic. Even if the GOP Convention is held in August, it is still far too early to be inviting in excess of 16,000 people from every state in the US to congregate in Music City Center. And the demand of our moronic President that the Convention must be full halls of his supporters without masks. Trump is stupid, ignorant, self-centered and beyond egotistical. We know that. In addition to his desire to ask delegates to the Convention to NOT wear masks, doing so would expose all the workers at MCC, the Convention hotels and downtown restaurants to people who are not following the CDC and White House guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing of face coverings. President Trump’s foolish demand will endanger him and all attendees at the GOP Convention. If you must extend an offer to host the GOP Convention your offer should not be made without close coordination with Mayor Cooper and the Davidson Country Health Authorities. To make an offer that has not been coordinated and which would allow attendees to violate social distancing guidelines and not require all attendees to wear face coverings would betray the people of Nashville / Davidson County and the State of TN. Surely you realize that. Do the right thing for the people of TN and for those who would attend the GOP Convention. Don’t be a fool. If you offer to host the GOP Convention do it by following the rules laid down by Mayor Cooper and the Davidson County department of health.
