Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west.
Time to retire my favorite rallying call...’It is what it is.’ Today I found a new one...’Who cares?’
While observing a national day of mourning for the tragedy of 9/11, we still can’t escape the current slow-moving tragedy we live right now.
But a new rallying cry makes it bearable.
Muzzling of national intelligence showing Russia has, is, and will interfere in our upcoming election. Because it upsets our President. Who cares?
Attempted muzzling of Dr. Fauci and others tasked with safeguarding us during a pandemic. Because it upsets our President. Who cares?
Lying to the American people by our President about the severity of the pandemic, when he knew better. Who cares?
Oh and in case you’re wondering where this rallying cry comes from, because I know you are short on time, and never know what’s up in current political drama...We recently learned that the U.S. Treasury has added Ukrainian Andrii Derkach as well as several Russians to its Specially Designated Nationals list for interfering in the U.S. election. The government has labeled Derkach an “active Russian agent for over a decade, maintaining close connections with the Russian Intelligence Services.” The Treasury Department charged that Derkach is working for Moscow to undermine the 2020 campaign.
Mr. Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani has collaborated with Derkach to spread anti-Biden propaganda, which has been picked up by Republican lawmakers and rightwing news media. Derkach or his associates have also peddled anti-Biden material to Senate Homeland Security Chair Ron Johnson and Representative Devin Nunes.
When asked to comment, Mr. Giuliani replied ‘Who cares?’
That my friends, is the current Trump GOP in a nutshell. As one of your old-school (bright and articulate) party members pointed out, Republicans have been shown to be an empty suit consisting of nothing but ‘transactional hypocrisy designed to provide an electoral advantage.’
But seriously, who cares?
Hint: you’ll find out on November 3.
