I'm writing today to express my fervent support for SB 628, "An Act to Require the Use of Native North Carolina Plants and Seeds on State Property and Highways and on Local Projects that use State Funds for Landscaping."
State roadways are valuable real estate for native plants and wildflowers, but unfortunately a history of using non-native and invasive species for erosion control, landscaping, etc. has taken much of that area away. By requiring only native plants and seeds going forward, we can start to turn the situation around!
SB628 was passed earlier this year in the state senate. Please do your best to ensure its swift movement through the House Committee on Rules, Calendar, and Operations, and passage by general vote.
