Vote Against KIDS Act, it Deregulates AI, Creates China Style Internet Tracking

I am writing to urgently request that you vote against the Kids Internet and Digital Safety Act (KIDS Act), which incorporates the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). While protecting children online is a vital goal, this specific legislative package relies on dangerous trade-offs that sacrifice the fundamental privacy and digital rights of all everyday citizens. My chief concern with the KIDS Act is that it effectively creates a massive user-tracking framework under the guise of safety. By mandating that platforms implement strict safety defaults and restrictions if they "know or should know" a user is a minor, the bill heavily pressures websites to actively verify the identity and age of every single visitor. To protect themselves from liability, companies will inevitably force adults and children alike to submit biometric data, facial scans, or government IDs. This eliminates online anonymity and creates centralized databases of sensitive personal information that will be highly vulnerable to data breaches, corporate overreach, and government surveillance. Furthermore, I am deeply troubled by reports that federal online safety bills are being leveraged by major tech companies to secure federal preemption over state-level AI regulations. Passing this bill could allow the federal government to strip away meaningful, localized AI safeguards, shielding powerful tech corporations from accountability while replacing robust guardrails with toothless, top-down federal standards. The KIDS Act does not fix the internet; it simply replaces user autonomy with pervasive digital tracking and corporate insulation.
