Demand Withdrawal of 2000 ICE Agents from Minnesota

33 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I am writing to demand the immediate withdrawal of the 2000 immigration enforcement agents currently deployed in Minnesota. This massive presence constitutes an occupying force in our communities and represents a dangerous escalation that threatens public safety and civil liberties. Recent events demonstrate why this deployment is unacceptable. A federal investigation has been launched into two immigration officers who made allegedly untruthful statements under oath about a shooting of a Venezuelan man in Minneapolis. This incident reveals the dangers of flooding our state with enforcement personnel operating with minimal oversight and accountability. When officers lie under oath about shooting residents, we have a crisis of both transparency and public safety. The human cost of aggressive immigration enforcement is devastating. A Chicago teenager who advocated for her detained father's release died from rare cancer after he was detained by immigration officials. These are not abstract policy debates. These are families being torn apart, children losing parents, and communities living in fear. The deployment of 2000 agents amplifies this trauma across Minnesota. This level of enforcement presence is unprecedented and unnecessary. It strains relationships between law enforcement and immigrant communities, making everyone less safe as people become afraid to report crimes or cooperate with police. It diverts resources from addressing actual public safety threats. It creates a climate of fear that harms our economy as workers stay home and businesses lose customers. Minnesota is not a war zone requiring occupation by federal forces. I urge you to take immediate action to demand the withdrawal of these agents and to support legislation that would prevent such deployments without state consent. Our communities deserve safety, dignity, and the ability to live without fear of a massive enforcement apparatus targeting our neighbors.
