Congress - Next Appropriations - Protect Clean Energy Tax Credits

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you — in the next appropriations session — to prevent any cuts to clean energy tax credits. The foolish Republican war on clean energy has already seen a marked reduction and cancellation of energy projects, and further loss of these clean energy tax credits are crucial for driving investment in renewable energy sources and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. These tax incentives have already successfully spurred growth in wind, solar and other clean technologies, creating jobs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and keeping the United States on the technology and innovation path for clean energy. Allowing the credits to expire would undermine America's leadership in the burgeoning global clean energy market and derail progress toward mitigating climate change. Real energy independence is through clean energy. Real health can safety benefits are derived through a transition to clean energy as quickly as practicable. It’s imperative that Congress act in the next appropriations bill sequence to extend and expand these effective policies that support clean energy innovation and deployment. Fossil fuels are a thing of the past. Congress must do what people want, and move us to a clean energy future. Thank you.
