Repeal the Alien Enemies Act - Pass Neighbors, not Enemies Act

Trump has used the Alien Enemies Act to deport hundreds of undocumented immigrants to Venezuela over the weekend, desperate a federal judge barring the use of this war-time law. The administration plans to continue leveraging this rule. The AEA was used to justify the internment of Japanese, German, and Italian immigrants during WWII -- a horrific chapter in U.S. history that we cannot allow the far right to repeat.
But the Neighbors Not Enemies Act, introduced by Sen. Mazie Hirono and Rep Ilhan Omar, would repeal the AEA once and for all, preventing any president from using it to inflict cruelty on immigrant communities.
Today and always, we must defend communities facing violence and injustice. One crucial opportunity to do that is happening right now: By building support for the Neighbors Not Enemies Act. This critical legislation upholds U.S. principles of justice and fairness, ensuring that no one is detained or deported without due process. By repealing it we can close the legal loopholes that Trump could ram a deportation machine through. I urge you to support this and pass it now.
