An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect public lands: Reject rushed land sales against local will.

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Oppose hasty public land disposals without safeguards. Senator Lee's amendment to the reconciliation bill mandates the expedited disposal of 3.26 million acres of public lands across 11 Western states, disregarding repeated calls from citizens in those states to keep public lands under public ownership and stewardship. This large-scale transfer of lands undermines the core principle that public lands belong to all Americans and should be managed for the benefit of current and future generations through an open, transparent process that incorporates local input and environmental considerations. By expediting land sales without requirements to reinvest proceeds into conservation nor requiring comprehensive review, this measure compromises outdoor recreation access, vital ecosystems, and our shared natural heritage in exchange to pay for the cost of cutting taxes for billionaires. Public lands must remain in public hands, protected through responsible, inclusive management that respects the will of the people.
