Meaningful Corporate Oversight Must Be legislated

3M allowed PFOS and other forever chemicals to contaminate the environment and accumulate in humans for decades while concealing evidence of the toxicity. The company prioritized profits over public health by suppressing research showing PFOS was hazardous and persistent. This reckless disregard for mounting scientific proof enabled ubiquitous exposure to a likely carcinogen proven to reduce immune function and disrupt vital biological processes. Corporate interests took precedence over transparency and responsible stewardship of pioneering chemical products. Such deception and willful poisoning of people and the planet for financial gain is ethically indefensible corporate malfeasance that necessitates accountability through litigation and stringent PFAS regulation. Without fundamental reform incentivizing integrity over short-term profits, communities will continue bearing the immense public health burden of toxic forever chemical pollution.
