Russia’s war against Ukraine is a criminal invasion of a sovereign nation, and it is entirely Russia’s fault. Not “complex.” Not “provoked.” Not a “conflict.” It is a war of aggression launched by Vladimir Putin — and it would end today if Russia got out of Ukraine.
Every bomb dropped on a Ukrainian city, every mass grave uncovered, every child stolen and trafficked into Russia traces back to one decision by one regime. Pretending otherwise is a lie — and you know it.
When American leaders refuse to speak plainly against this war, they are not being cautious. They are being complicit.
Vladimir Putin is running a brutal authoritarian war machine that survives on terror, disinformation, and mass death. He understands only strength and clarity. Silence, equivocation, and appeasement tell him one thing: that the United States lacks the spine to defend the values it claims to represent.
The United States does not get to waffle on this. We made promises to Ukraine. We committed to the principle that borders are not erased by tanks and that democracy does not bow to dictators. If those commitments collapse now, then every U.S. alliance is worthless, every treaty is suspect, and every future aggressor is watching and learning.
Say it clearly. Say it publicly. Say it repeatedly:
• Russia started this war
• Ukraine is defending itself
• Putin is responsible
• This invasion is unjust and illegal
• The world is safer when Russia is stopped, not indulged
History is ruthless to leaders who refuse moral clarity in moments that demand it. No one will remember the political calculations. They will remember who spoke up — and who stayed quiet while a nation was torn apart.
Condemn the Russian invasion without excuses. Reject Putin’s war machine outright. Stand with Ukraine openly and unapologetically.
If you cannot do that, then be honest enough to admit you have abandoned the values you swore to defend.
