Governor, you’re failing the residents of TN when it comes to doing your level best to protect all of us from COVID-19, especially the Delta Variant. Here’s a little snippet from the NYT this morning you should read. “As the delta variant spreads, the messaging from public health experts and officials is unequivocal: Vaccines are the best protection against severe illness and hospitalization. More than 97 percent of new hospitalizations from the delta variant are from people who are unvaccinated, making what Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, calls “a pandemic of the unvaccinated.” Is that the outcome you’re striving for in TN? I don’t think so. But your actions belie what you really believe about the threat COVID-19 and the Delta Variant pose to the citizens you are supposed to be leading. Do the right thing, Governor: start making PSAs touting the effectiveness of the vaccines and explaining that 97% of the COVID cases are people who have refused to get a Covid vaccination. Of course, if you’re satisfied that a good many of your republican supporters may well contract COVID-19 due to the increased infectious ness of the Delta Variant. If that’s what you want, YOU have a responsibility to encourage Tennesseans to get vaccinated so you don’t have to preside over a TN Pandemic of the Unvaccinated. Really: Do you want that to be your legacy: Governor Lee. He increased the number of loaded handguns on the streets of our cities. He signed some of the most discriminatory legislation in the entire US. And most of all, he allowed COVID-19 infections and deaths to spiral into Governor Lee’s Pandemic of the Unvaccinated. Don’t be a fool. Do the right thing. Start promoting vaccinations NOW.
