Senators, The time for cooperation, bipartisanship, and collaboration has long passed. The entire country did not vote for this. You have to start using your pens and your voices to do more than just confirm the President’s overreaches. What are you waiting for? Who are you scared of angering by taking concrete action? Why are you not standing with the fired IGs or the fired head of the NLRB? Why are you not challenging this adminstration vocally and publicly? Why are you not on television and every social media outlet denouncing this behavior? There can be no more working behind the scenes when your constituents are facing brutal attacks from their own government. Why are you allowing a clearly misogynist and white supremacist agenda to flourish unchallenged? There has to be some kind of presence for people to feel hope. We need a Democratic Leader who is the head of the OPPOSITION. You need to OPPOSE these actions publicly and verbally and you have to physically get in between your constituents and the people who are trying to harm them. Where are you? Where is your staff? Where are your voices? Where are your statements? WHERE? We have no way of combatting this alone-you were elected to protect us. The Civil Rights division has been shut down. Who is going to protect us? It has to be you. It is past time for you to do so. Stop collaborating with the people who are deporting people and ending federal assistance. Stop working with people who are denying veterans aid because they don’t want any support for LGBTQIA people. Stop allowing the targeting of Black people with anti-DEI rhetoric and policies. STOP CONCEDING THE POWER OF THE PURSE TO THE PRESIDENT. Honestly, you have to act. It is already too late.
