While I am not surprised by the actions of president Trump in his first day in office, I am disgusted by most of his actions which range from stupid to petty and all points in between and the farthest from presidential. The pardons of those responsible for violence at the capital are particularly appalling and as victims of that assault I’m am sadly disappointed by the way your party members are defending them because Biden preemptively pardoned individuals who did their job to investigate the horrific insult to our rule of law that was the January 6th riot. The fact that Biden felt obligated to pardon those dedicated public servants speaks to the destruction of guard rails that will be the Trump presidency. Any congress person who tries to justify the J6 pardons should be ashamed of themselves.
The pardon of the Silk Road founder is a slap in the face to any parent who has lost a child to substance abuse and that action is without a defense.
As congressional representatives of our state, it is your job to provide checks and balances to the administrative branch. Please do your job for our great state and don’t let our country become the laughing stock of the world which it will rapidly become if there is not some restraint on the baser instincts of Trump.
I do not live in the sad, declining, dystopian nation that Trump described in his inaugural and neither do you.
You got your majorities so you can do what you want but I don’t think you really want what is happening now but if you do I feel very sad for you and our great nation.
