Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
What are y’all doing to us?
Every morning we wake up to another unprecedented action to disrupt America and its citizens.
Our promises to the world broken. Our relationships with our closest trading neighbors shattered. The mechanisms of a functioning government under attack from within. Promises to our people for a society that works for them, all of them, made a mockery of.
And now we have Elon Musk wielding power over our financial lives. My husband and I both draw Social Security. We’re on Medicare. These things enable us to have a roof over our heads. Now that assurance is at the whim of an unelected billionaire, whose great wealth is a result of the very government he is seeking to control. Because if you control the purse you absolutely control the government.
Where are our elected officials in Congress? Our elected officials that we hope will protect us from the worst impulses of a president? Here’s where they are…agreeing with the destruction of it all. Justifying actions that would have them screaming from the rooftops if it were any other president. Enabling the worst of everything, in the name of ‘It’s the right thing for the country.’
It’s not right for the country. And you know it.
Trump, his billionaire minions, his sycophant allies, and the architects of Project 2025 now comfortably embedded in the body politic, are all conspiring against you and yours as well. They don’t need you. You are already in either misguided agreement with everything they’re doing. Or you’re not and just keeping your mouths shut in fear of retaliation.
They do not need your approval. They do not need your help. They are, and have, figured out how to bypass you. You are no longer co-equal. You are subservient for your very survival. You have destroyed any past benefit to them by your continued acquiescence to it all.
And they know it.
