An open letter to the U.S. Congress

We Can't Afford More Bad Patents

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As your constituent, I urge you to publicly oppose the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act of 2023, S. 2140, and the PREVAIL Act, S. 2220. PERA would open the door for more vague and over-broad patents. Every week, patent trolls use these patents in lawsuits and demand letters that hurt software developers and small businesses. PERA even allows patents on human genetic material. PREVAIL limits the public’s right to challenge the worst patents. The inter parties review (IPR) process that was created by the 2012 America Invents Act has kicked out thousands of bad patents. We need to weed these bad patents out of the system, not award more of them.
