An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

Reject discriminatory bathroom restrictions for House staff

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Opposing the Discrimination in Restroom Access for Congressional Employees Act (H.R. 1579) This misguided legislation seeks to prohibit individuals employed by the U.S. House of Representatives from using bathrooms and changing facilities that align with their gender identity, forcing them instead to use spaces corresponding to the sex they were assigned at birth. Such a policy is discriminatory, demeaning, and perpetuates harm against transgender and non-binary individuals. It disregards their fundamental rights and human dignity. Denying people the ability to access bathrooms matching their lived identity creates an unduly burdensome and stigmatizing environment. This bill promotes intolerance rather than fostering an inclusive workplace. I urge the rejection of H.R. 1579 to uphold principles of equality and respect for all citizens, regardless of gender identity or expression.
