Remove Trump Banner from DOJ and Require Congressional Approval for Building Changes

The Department of Justice headquarters now displays a banner promoting President Trump. This is unprecedented and fundamentally un-American. The United States does not operate like authoritarian regimes that plaster government buildings with images exalting their leaders. Our democratic institutions must remain neutral and serve all citizens, not function as promotional vehicles for any sitting president.
The DOJ is tasked with enforcing the law impartially. When its headquarters features promotional materials for the current president, it sends a clear message that the department serves the president rather than the Constitution and the American people. This undermines public trust in the justice system at a time when faith in our institutions is already fragile.
I am asking you to take two immediate actions. First, demand that the DOJ remove the Trump banner from its headquarters immediately. This display has no place on a federal building dedicated to impartial justice. Second, introduce or support legislation requiring congressional approval for any renaming of federal buildings, display of presidential images, or similar alterations to government facilities. Such changes should never be made unilaterally, and they certainly should not be used to promote a living president.
Federal buildings belong to the American people, not to whoever currently occupies the White House. They should reflect our shared values of impartiality, justice, and democratic governance. Allowing any president to brand government facilities with their image or name sets a dangerous precedent that erodes the independence of our institutions and moves us closer to the personality cults we see in authoritarian states.
This is not a partisan issue. It is about preserving the integrity and independence of our government institutions. I urge you to act swiftly to restore the DOJ headquarters to its proper, nonpartisan state and to establish clear guardrails preventing future abuses.
