Urgent Action Needed—Release of British Tourist Held at NW ICE Processing Center

I am writing to express my outrage and deep concern regarding the detention of British tourist Eleanor Holmes at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma. According to The Seattle Times, she has been held for weeks despite clear evidence that she is merely a student traveling through North America. Unless she has committed a serious crime—such as drug smuggling or violence—there is absolutely no justification for her continued detention.
The United States prides itself on due process and fairness, yet Ms. Holmes is being treated as if she is a threat to national security. This is an alarming misuse of immigration enforcement, and I urge you to take immediate action to investigate her case and advocate for her release. At worst, she should be sent back to the UK—not held indefinitely in a detention center as if she were a criminal.
The handling of this case reflects poorly on our country’s immigration policies and on Washington State, which has long stood for justice and humane treatment of individuals. I ask that you demand answers from ICE and push for Ms. Holmes’ release or deportation if no credible charges exist against her.
Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response.
