The recent report by Doctors Without Borders reveals the appalling extent of Israel’s systematic oppression in the West Bank, particularly in Hebron. The conditions imposed on Palestinians constitute grave violations of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute, under which these acts may amount to crimes against humanity.
Israeli policies—ranging from the militarized checkpoints that obstruct access to essential healthcare, to the settler violence that has become a routine terrorizing force—are not merely violations of Palestinian rights but are part of an overarching apartheid regime. This regime is designed to ensure the dominance of one group over another, an action explicitly condemned under international law.
The complicity of the United States in supporting this regime, through military aid and diplomatic cover, not only tarnishes our nation’s standing but also implicates us in these violations. Continued support for Israel under these conditions is tantamount to endorsing war crimes and human rights abuses, placing the United States in direct violation of international norms and principles.
It is imperative that the United States reassess its role in perpetuating this apartheid system. Immediate action must be taken to end military aid to Israel until these human rights violations cease. The U.S. must also support international legal mechanisms to hold Israel accountable, including investigations by the International Criminal Court.
Furthermore, we must demand the complete withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from all occupied territories, the dismantling of illegal settlements, and the de-militarization of the borders. Only by enforcing these actions can we begin to rectify the injustices inflicted upon the Palestinian people and uphold the principles of justice and human dignity.
I urge you to take a firm stance against Israel’s apartheid regime and advocate for the United States to cease its complicity in these crimes.
