An open letter to the U.S. Congress

We’ve been wrong too often. Don’t hurry the process on death penalty cases

118 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

Courts get it wrong- a lot. How many times in our generation have we witnessed the innocence project forcing courts to overturn their verdicts because they sentenced the wrong person? How many times has vindicating evidence been found when it’s already too late? When someone has already given decades of their lives to the U.S. justice system? Or worse- when their lives have already been eliminated by the U.S. justice system? Courts are not infallible. Increasing the means by which inmates are executed while decreasing the time period between sentencing and execution is unethical and dangerous. The only governments in the world who would dignify such a proposal as this are… well… dictatorial… which is exactly what Trump is looking for. Do not consider expansion of executional measures, and do not allow the shortening of appealable time between sentencing and execution. It is unconscionable!
