No Taxpayer Funds for CECOT—the Salvadoran Megaprison

The Trump administration's $6 million deal with the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) prison in El Salvador raises grave concerns about potential human rights violations and lack of transparency. CECOT has been accused of torture, abuse, and neglect, with reports of over 100,000 people packed into overcrowded conditions with no plans for rehabilitation or release. Even more disturbing, the administration has deported hundreds of migrants with no criminal records to this maximum-security foreign facility, including wrongfully deporting an innocent father of two. This is unacceptable and a flagrant violation of human rights. Our taxpayer dollars should not fund such abuses. I urge you to take immediate action to block any further funding for CECOT and launch an independent investigation into the alleged human rights violations at this prison. We cannot allow people to be disappeared into a system of abuse and torture, and there must be accountability for any wrongdoing. Please prioritize addressing this urgent issue and upholding basic human rights standards.
