1. He’s an Autocrat: Trump's first year in office is a triumph for autocracy in America—he behaves like a bull in a China shop causing chaos and destruction. 2. He doesn’t understand democracy: Trump is psychologically incapable of understanding anything but domination and revenge, with no knowledge of history, crashing obliviously and maliciously through the ruined landscape of constitutional democracy. 3. He abuses power: Trump has declared emergencies more than 30 times in his first seven months, seizing arbitrary power. He threatens the rule of law and democratic governance. 4. He has delegitimized the rule of law: Trump deems every judicial ruling against him as corrupt and political, while deeming every ruling for him as pure justice. He has used the Justice Department to target his personal enemies and impugn honest judges. 5. He uses power arbitrarily: Trump uses tariffs as a club to coerce other countries on unrelated policies, which should be an impeachable offense. His actions are arbitrary exercises of absolute power with no underlying principle. 6. He has assaulted institutions: Trump is dismantling neutral institutions, reality-based research, and economic predictability to disorient and paralyze resistance. This includes targeting universities, ending free speech for non-citizens, and deploying armed, masked, anonymous men with powers to seize and detain anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant. 7. He is creating a police state: Trump is building vast detention camps and a growing domestic army answerable only to him. This is a threat to the rule of law and democratic governance. 8. He is hostile to the rule of law and constitutional government: Trump attacks the legitimacy of the other party, normal governance, and basic decency. He is a threat to the republic.
