Pete Hegseth must reign or be fired. As must everyone else who was on that Signal chat, SENDING CLASSIFIED WAR PLANS TO A REPORTER. That would include the vice president, Secretary of State, DNI, and CIA Director. They ALL must go.
Jesus Christ, I don’t even know where to start. A chat on Signal, which is an unsecure platform known to be targeted by Russian actors. And because it’s not secure, it’s not on government phones. Which means these people were using their personal devices. Excuse me? They have CLASSIFIED WAR PLANS on their PERSONAL PHONES? I’m old enough to remember when a Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate was pilloried by your party for using a personal, unsecured server. Do you remember that? Sure you do.
A group chat. Not a meeting in a SCIF, but a group chat. Which included the editor in chief of The Atlantic. Which no one in the chat noticed. On an app that deletes messages after a month, thus destroying presidential
records. That, I believe, is (or used to be) a crime.
Either national security matters or it doesn’t. And if these idiots remain in their positions, it will be clear, particularly to our enemies, that it does not.
Fire them all. Prosecute them. They are a clear and present danger to this nation and its security. They MUST be held accountable.
And that, I believe, is your job. So, you know, DO IT.
