2025 Women’s History Month - Trump Erasure & Disregard for Women’s Contributions

As we observe Women’s History Month, a time to honor the vital contributions of women to our nation, it is deeply concerning to witness the Trump administration’s systematic erasure of these achievements in 2025. The administration’s actions have not only removed historical acknowledgments but have also undermined gender equity at the highest levels of government and military leadership. Erasing Women from History Key government agencies have erased references to women’s contributions: • Arlington National Cemetery: Web pages honoring female veterans were removed, diminishing their visibility. • NASA: Gender, diversity, and inclusion references were scrubbed from official content, erasing recognition of female pioneers. • National Park Service: The Stonewall National Monument website altered or removed references to gender diversity. • Department of Defense: The Pentagon flagged over 26,000 images and historical references, many showcasing women’s military contributions. Targeting Women in Leadership Several high-profile women in government and the military have been dismissed: • Admiral Linda Lee Fagan, the first female Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, was removed on January 21, 2025, for prioritizing DEI initiatives. • Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was fired on February 21, 2025, raising concerns about politicized military leadership. Ongoing Disrespect Toward Women Trump’s history of derogatory remarks against women persists, with frequent attacks on female political figures and journalists, reinforcing a culture of hostility toward women in leadership. Policies Rolling Back Women’s Rights The administration’s policies have further marginalized women’s rights and opportunities: • Elimination of DEI Programs: Workplace protections and mentorship programs for women have been dismantled. • Reproductive Health Restrictions: Access to abortion and birth control has been significantly curtailed. • Project 2025: This federal overhaul threatens reproductive rights and decades of progress in gender equality. The deliberate erasure of women’s contributions, the dismissal of female leaders, and the rollback of policies advancing gender equality cannot go unchallenged. I urge you to take a stand against these regressive actions and advocate for policies that honor and uplift women’s contributions. Women’s legacies must be celebrated—not erased.
