Is This America?

In light of recent events, the political climate in our country is an embarrassment to the world. It’s tragic, devasting, terrifying, and just plain wrong. The overturning of Roe v. Wade puts other cases, that are based in the right to privacy, at risk. Lawrence v. Texas 2003: if overturned, homosexuality will be illegal. Loving v. Virginia 1968: if overturned, interracial marriage will be illegal. Stanley v. Georgia 1969: if overturned, pornography will be illegal. Obergefell v. Hodges 2015: if overturned, will make gay marriage illegal. Meyer v. Nebraska 1923: if overturned, will make teaching children a language, other than English, illegal. Skinner v. Oklahoma 1942: if overturned, will make forcibly sterilizing prisoners, disabled people, and anyone deemed as “deviant”, LEGAL. Griswold v. Connecticut 1965: if overturned, will make it illegal for married couples to have access to birth control. YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING! What even IS this country anymore? This isn’t America, this is absolutely disgusting. I’m ashamed of our politicians, our laws, and our country. The majority of Americans don’t want this. This is the result of a very loud segment of the population that are EXTREMISTS, buying politicians to further their religious ideals, and have them codified into law. This is not separation of church and state. You cannot allow Christians to force the rest of the country to adhere to the tenets of THEIR faith. That is not what religious freedom is. That is a theocracy. Freedom of religion is the freedom to practice your own religion; not force other people to live by the restrictions of yours. Do something!
