Stop NSPM-7 Before It Silences Americans”

I’m writing to express deep concern about the recently released National Security Presidential Memorandum-7 (NSPM-7), titled “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence.” While protecting national security is essential, NSPM-7’s language is alarmingly broad and undefined, creating serious risks for civil liberties. Phrases such as “anti-American,” “anti-capitalist,” and “anti-Christian” could be interpreted to include peaceful advocacy groups, religious communities, or critics of government policy, even those with no link to violence. In our polarized climate, such vague terms could easily be weaponized for partisan or ideological retribution, allowing agencies to monitor or penalize Americans based on beliefs rather than actions. This raises fundamental First Amendment concerns about free speech, religion, and association. I urge you to call for immediate oversight and clarification before NSPM-7 is implemented further.
