I am writing to urge you to support our migratory children and families in our community and state by keeping Title1, Part C, Education of Migratory Children. As you are aware, the White House Skinny Budget (FY 2026) eliminates funding for the program. Over 300,000 children rely on this program which helps close the achievement gap they experience and allows them the opportunity to be successful academically. While parents work long hours in support of the agricultural, dairy, fishes and food processing it's important to provide the mobile children an opportun ity to learn. These are families that put food on America's tables! I can attest to the positive impact of this supplement program both in the regular school year, after school and summer school. When you invest in these programs in our community funded by Title 1, Part C you are helping children get the math and reading enrichment they need. These hands-on activities help the students learn and grow. The investment helps mobile children connect with opportunities and skills needed to be successful in school and life. This support is more important now than ever. gained in school readiness on formative, curriculum-based assessments. A recent study (21 states) of Title Part C State Grants showed that on average, 77% of migratory students gained in reading, 79% gained in math, and 82% In addition, under the Title 1, Part C, Consortiums Incentive grant (Section 1308) in which 43 states participate in four consortium additional gains wer e made by students learning of 5% or more from pre-to-post-test. There has been bi-partisan support for Title 1, Part C. I hope you will prioritize funding the program $374 million as you determine education funding for 2026 while ensuring that the U.S. Department of Educat ion will allocate the congressionally approved FY2025 budget.
