An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Require ID and Body Cameras for Federal Immigration Agents

27 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I am deeply alarmed by ongoing reports of ICE raids across the country, particularly those involving agents who conceal their identities, wear no visible identification, and operate without body cameras. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and should be illegal. If individuals are being arrested and communities disrupted, we must be able to verify that these are legitimate law enforcement actions—not the actions of unaccountable agents or vigilantes. The American people deserve assurance that our government operates within the bounds of the law and with respect for civil rights. Unchecked authority and secrecy in law enforcement have dangerous historical parallels. We must not allow our country to slide toward the mistakes of authoritarian regimes of the past. I urge you to support legislation that ensures accountability for all federal enforcement agencies. Body cameras, visible ID, and clear protocols are not optional—they are essential.
