Reading more about the North Korea flub. And not much about the Venezuelan drug boat incident. When will we be given evidence that what the administration says happened, actually did happen? And that we didn’t just blow up another boat of fishermen.
The Dept of Defense going back to the War Dept seems timely. We seem determined to tear down and provoke our friends and allies. But do just the opposite with true threats to America.
By law, Congress must approve the name change, which estimates say will cost billions of dollars. But Trump said: “I'm sure Congress will go along if we need that. I don't think we even need that.”
And the administration will no longer help to fund military training and infrastructure in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia, Baltic nations vulnerable to Russia.
National security scholar Tom Nichols commented: “I am adamant about people not falling prey to conspiracy theories about Trump and the Russians, but this is a classic moment where it's understandable to ask: If the Russians owned him, how would his actions be any different?”
The administration has not briefed Congress on the change.
Y’all should just pack your bags and go back home. Any pretense is gone. You’re no longer needed.
The president seems intent to use military might against counties strategic to our well-being and economic prosperity, but only snarky tweets against our adversaries.
(Since he has cut y’all out of the loop on most everything, do you wonder what else is going on that you might not know about? If you do, then you know what we the people feel like.)
But by far his greatest efforts to subjugate and conquer are against his own country. And the people he was elected to protect and serve.
Meanwhile our economy is continuing to slide downward. Data released Tuesday shows US manufacturing has contracted for six straight months. The US has fewer manufacturing jobs today than it had before the beginning of Covid. The country has lost 78,000 manufacturing jobs this year.
AND 72% of Texas manufacturers say the tariffs are hurting their businesses.
Because the GOP Congress is immune to constituent concerns, and reality, I leave you with words from our president. When asked if he would trust the latest job numbers, Trump answered:
“Well, we're going to have to see what the numbers, I don't know, they come out tomorrow. But the real numbers that I'm talking about are going to be whatever it is. But, uh, will be in a year from now when these monstrous huge beautiful places they’re palaces of genius and when they start opening up. You’re seeing, I think you’ll see job numbers that are absolutely incredible. Right now it’s a lot of construction numbers, but you’re going to see job numbers like our country has never seen before.”
Got that?
