While Democracy Burned, You Held Up Signs

The Democratic party is failing us! Tonight, as a fascist regime tightens its grip on this country—while the blood of millions is practically written into law—you sat there. Useless. Gutless. Clutching your embarrassing little signs like high schoolers playing protest in a theater production. What do you think those signs are going to do? Stop a coup? Save democracy? Keep people from dying? From where we stand, you look exactly like what you are: a dead, rotting party of hollow, performative cowards, too terrified to make noise while a fascist movement wipes this country off the map. Representative Al Green stood up. ONE man. The rest of you? You sat on your hands, whispering about "norms," adjusting your optics, praying the cameras caught your good side while the rest of us drown. WHERE. IS. THE. FIGHT? Republicans have been on a scorched-earth warpath for years. Loud. Proud. Unrelenting. Breaking laws in broad daylight. And you? You've responded with stern tweets, empty speeches, & useless photo ops. You've let them drag us to the edge of extinction while you pat yourselves on the back for another strongly worded letter & a hashtag. People are going to die because of you. Do you understand that? Your cowardice. Your timidity. Your obsession with “decorum” in the face of fascists who want us dead. You're standing in a burning house, & instead of putting out the fire, you're rearranging the furniture. This isn’t a game. This isn’t content for your next re-election ad. This is life & death. This is the end of the line. And you are FAILING every single one of us who begged you to stand up & fight like our lives depended on it—because they do. You cannot out-manner or out-tweet a fascist takeover. You meet their aggression with more. You meet their fire with an inferno. You scream. You disrupt. You remove these people from power by any legal means necessary. You use EVERY tool. EVERY bit of leverage. But you won’t. You're too scared. Too comfortable. Too busy making signs, watching history crumble while you write meaningless tweets. We see you. And when the bodies pile up, when the last of our rights are gone, when the boots are on our necks, we won’t forget who stood by & let it happen. We won’t forget who cared more about appearing “civil” than protecting the people they swore to represent. You are not opposition. You are not resistance. You are collaborators through cowardice. You are enabling this horror with your spineless, pathetic inaction. You are co-signing the death of democracy because you're too scared to disrupt your own comfort. Get up. Fight. Stop this. Use every ounce of power you have left or step aside & admit what you really are: willing participants in our destruction. And know this—if you refuse to fight, the people will fight without you. We will never forgive you. We will never forget you. And history will remember you as the weak, complicit cowards who let it all burn. Shame on every single one of you.
