He has dismissed or demoted prosecutors handling Capitol riot cases and initiated internal reviews aimed at undermining these prosecutions. Such moves suggest a troubling intent to politicize the office and obstruct accountability for the January 6 insurrection. Furthermore, Martin’s past includes making derogatory and racist comments, questioning the legitimacy of public officials, and appearing on Russian state media outlets over 150 times without proper disclosure. These actions raise serious questions about his judgment and suitability for a role that demands impartiality and adherence to the rule of law. I urge you to oppose Martin’s nomination and take all necessary steps to prevent the further politicization of the Justice Department. The appointment of a U.S. Attorney should be based on qualifications and a commitment to justice, not political loyalty.
