Fatal ICE Shooting of a U.S. Citizen Requires Immediate Congressional Response

I am writing as your constituent to demand immediate congressional action following the fatal ICE shooting in Minnesota and the continued lack of accountability within ICE and the Department of Homeland Security. On January 7, 2026, Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three and a U.S. citizen, was fatally shot by an ICE agent during a federal enforcement action in Minneapolis. Video evidence raises serious questions about the necessity and legality of the use of lethal force against a civilian inside the United States. I have already contacted all of my representatives demanding accountability for ICE, DHS, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and President Donald Trump. I am writing again to insist that Congress act now—not issue statements of concern. Secretary Noem’s public defense of ICE and the federal decision to block independent state and local oversight of the investigation undermine public trust and reinforce the perception of federal self-protection. When a civilian is killed by federal agents and accountability is internalized, Congress has a constitutional duty to intervene. I am demanding that you immediately: • Publicly acknowledge the killing of Renée Nicole Good. • Support independent, non-DHS oversight of the incident. • Initiate or support congressional hearings into ICE’s use of force. • Support impeachment proceedings against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. I expect a prompt written response outlining the actions you will take. Delay or silence is unacceptable
