As your constituent and a resident of Georgia, I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Trump administration’s launch of a new private health tracking system developed in coordination with Big Tech firms including Apple, Google, and CVS.
This development raises serious alarms regarding the erosion of our healthcare privacy rights, particularly under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The involvement of corporations with questionable track records on data privacy, coupled with the federal government’s push for rapid deployment, suggests a troubling disregard for patient confidentiality, informed consent, and the protection of sensitive personal data.
We did not ask for this system. We do not want it. And we refuse to be surveilled under the guise of healthcare innovation. The backdoor partnerships between the federal government and Big Tech must be thoroughly investigated and, if necessary, blocked.
Health information should remain between patients and their care providers—not become data points for corporate monetization or government surveillance.
I urge you, as a leader elected to serve and protect the people of Georgia, to take a public stand against this program, advocate for stringent data privacy protections, and demand full transparency from all parties involved in its development.
Please don’t let HIPAA become another casualty of unchecked corporate and political power. We deserve better.
