Protect solar energy for economic competitiveness and security

The United States faces an impending energy crisis that jeopardizes our economic competitiveness and national security. The proposed legislation risks crippling America's solar and storage industries, costing nearly 300 factories and over 145,000 gigawatt-hours of solar generation capacity by 2030 – more electricity than the entire state of Pennsylvania consumes annually. This would trigger an estimated $220 billion loss in investment and 300,000 job losses, including 86,000 in domestic manufacturing concentrated in states that supported the President. As the demand for energy intensifies with emerging technologies like AI and cryptocurrencies, we cannot afford to squander our renewable energy potential. Failing to strengthen the solar industry will leave the U.S. unable to meet projected energy needs of adding over 200 gigawatts of new capacity this decade, 73% of which is expected to come from solar. This self-inflicted energy shortage will raise utility costs, hinder economic growth, and cede technological leadership to China. I urge revisions to protect the solar investment tax credits and domestic manufacturing provisions. These incentives are crucial for energy security, consumer choice, and maintaining America's competitive edge in vital economic sectors. We have an opportunity to secure our energy future while creating jobs and supporting President Trump's vision of energy dominance. Congress must safeguard the renewable energy provisions that are essential for our nation's prosperity.
