Medicaid "Work Requirements" Are Cuts. Period. Say No.

Speaker Johnson has warned us that work requirements for Medicaid will be part of the reconciliation bill. Every member of Congress needs to understand this clearly: work requirements are cuts, and we are demanding they oppose all cuts to Medicaid.
This program is a lifeline for folks who otherwise would not be able to afford care. Slashing it to pay for tax cuts for Elon Musk and his fellow billionaires and big donors is a betrayal of regular people.
1 in 5 Americans is on Medicaid. They are not strangers to us – they *are* us, and people we know and love and work with. Whatever lies cynical politicians spread about them, almost all of them either have a job or cannot have one. Work requirements are not going to fix a problem that does not exist. They are an excuse to kick people off their health care.
We have seen states impose work requirements before. They did not see more people employed. They did, however, end up denying coverage to people who had jobs or were caregivers or disabled or students because they got tangled in red tape and bureaucracy. Work requirements do not get people to work, they get people to do paperwork, and they purposefully screw over those Medicaid is supposed to serve.
No paying for giveaways to the wealthy out of our health care. Work requirements are just another way to do that.
