Support Pay-for-Work Standards for Members of Congress I am writing as a constituent to express my concern about the number of days the House of Representatives is in session and conducting official business. Members of Congress are elected and compensated to represent their constituents and legislate. When the House is adjourned for extended periods or sent home without votes on pressing issues, it undermines public trust and creates the appearance that political strategy is taking precedence over governance. I believe Congress should establish clear, enforceable standards requiring a minimum number of working legislative days in order for Members to receive full compensation. Nearly every American worker is expected to show up and perform their job responsibilities to be paid. Our elected officials should be held to a comparable standard of accountability and transparency. This is not about party affiliation — it is about ensuring that the legislative branch functions consistently and responsibly, regardless of who holds leadership positions. Constituents deserve a government that shows up to do its work. I respectfully ask that you support legislation that ties congressional compensation to meaningful participation and a minimum number of working session days.
