Unhinged and Unfit: Congress Must Act Before It’s Too Late

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent late-night statement made by former President Trump, which raises serious questions about his emotional stability, impulse control, and ability to lead. Early this morning, he posted: “The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden gave…are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT…” This declaration, which has no legal or constitutional basis, demonstrates cognitive rigidity and distorted thinking—alarming traits in a leader. He continued: “Biden did not sign them…but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them!” This claim, made without evidence, reflects paranoia and conspiratorial thinking, which can impair rational governance. Additionally, his escalation of conflict through extreme rhetoric—calling political opponents “Thugs” and referring to a “Witch Hunt”—suggests an inability to process setbacks rationally or respond constructively. A leader must remain calm under pressure and focus on national stability, not personal grievances. Repeated late-night outbursts also raise concerns about impulse control, decision-making under stress, and potential sleep deprivation, all of which can severely affect judgment and governance. I urge Congress to consider the mental and emotional fitness of individuals seeking the presidency. The ability to lead rationally, responsibly, and in the best interest of the nation must be a baseline requirement for public office.
