An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Cuts to Social Security are threatening benefits

8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

Cuts to the Social Security Administration's (SSA) budget are detrimental to the millions of Americans who rely on retirement and disability benefits. The SSA has seen its operating budget slashed by 14% since 2010, leading to severe staffing shortages, office closures, and longer wait times for those seeking benefits. This threatens the financial security of vulnerable populations, including the disabled, elderly, and their families. Proposed further cuts would exacerbate these issues, delaying access to vital support. To protect a program that lifts millions out of poverty and provides a reliable safety net, Congress must increase funding to the SSA to allow it to fulfill its crucial role effectively and efficiently for all Americans.
