Vote NO on HR 9495

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to vote NO on HR 9495, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act. While on the surface, it’s a bill to provide tax relief to American hostages held by terror groups, the good parts of this bill have been co-opted by Republican legislators.
Under the bill, the Treasury Secretary could simply designate any nonprofit — including those that protect our civil rights — be labeled a terror-supporting organization, and effectively it could not function.
Imagine if World Central Kitchen, Chef Jose Andres excellent organization was designated a terror-supporting nonprofit simply because it’s trying to feed hungry people in Lebanon.
You see the problem? Vote NO on this trojan horse bill. Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.
