Protect Georgia seniors' access to Social Security benefits

Social Security provides vital support and stability for millions of Georgians, ensuring our seniors can afford basic necessities after decades of hard work. The planned closure of five Social Security offices in Brunswick, Columbus, Gainesville, Thomasville, and Vidalia will significantly hamper access to benefits, resolution of payment issues, and reporting of fraud – particularly for those in rural areas. These closures, part of the Trump administration's effort to reduce government spending through federal workforce cuts, represent a major obstacle for Georgia's seniors in accessing the benefits they have earned. While it is reasonable to streamline inefficiencies, doing so at the expense of hardworking Americans who rely on Social Security is unacceptable. Cutting costs by restricting access to earned benefits ultimately places an unfair burden on our most vulnerable citizens. We must prioritize the well-being of our seniors over profits or political agendas. Protecting and strengthening Social Security should be a core priority to uphold the dignity and security of our nation's retirees.
