Oppose Weakening the Endangered Species Act - Biodiversity First!

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to vote NO on all bills posed by Republicans that would redefine the "harm" definition under the Endangered Species Act.
These bills are a blatant and immoral attack on biodiversity and threatens to accelerate the alarming decline of vulnerable plant and animal species. These unconscionable measures are completely out of step with most Americans, an overwhelming majority of whom support protecting species from extinction and preserving our natural heritage.
Under the smoke screen of the utterly false energy emergency, Trump is setting the stage for a massive loss of species, both the big and the small. With the extinction crisis intensifying and climate change exacerbating pressures, weakening habitat protections would have disastrous consequences for iconic species like polar bears, spotted owls, and whooping cranes.
This regressive turn - backed by the fossil fuel industry — prioritizes short-term profits over the long-term health of our ecosystems. It flies in the face of overwhelming public support for preserving our natural heritage, and violates our moral responsibility as stewards of this planet. What will our children and grandchildren inherit if these bills are allowed to go forward?
I urge you to reject any efforts to undermine the Endangered Species Act and uphold robust safeguards for imperiled flora and fauna teetering on the brink. The biodiversity that sustains all life on Earth must be our paramount concern. There’s no commerce on a dead planet, and there is no Planet B.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
