Reject Vought's OMB Nomination - Unfit and Unconstitutional Ideology

I am deeply concerned about the potential reappointment of Russell Vought as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the next administration. Vought's troubling record and radical ideology make him unfit for this crucial role that oversees the functioning of the entire executive branch. During his previous tenure at OMB under the Trump administration, Vought was found by the Government Accountability Office to have violated federal law by unlawfully withholding congressionally appropriated funds, including military aid to Ukraine. This blatant disregard for the constitutional separation of powers and Congress's power of the purse is alarming and disqualifying. Moreover, Vought has openly advocated for enacting devastating budget cuts of over $2 trillion to vital social safety net programs like Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and food stamps, as well as slashing funding for education and other essential government agencies. His alignment with the extreme "Project 2025" agenda, which aims to centralize unchecked executive power and undermine congressional authority, poses a severe threat to our democratic system of checks and balances. Vought's stated intentions to "tame the administrative state" and potentially defy the Impoundment Control Act by unilaterally withholding appropriated funds are unconstitutional and unacceptable. His radical "unitary executive" theory would concentrate dangerous levels of power in the hands of the president, eroding the legislative branch's constitutional role in determining federal spending priorities. Appointing an individual with such a dismal track record of lawbreaking and an ideological commitment to dismantling essential government programs and undermining democratic norms would be a grave mistake. I urge you to scrutinize Vought's qualifications and reject his potential nomination to lead the OMB, as his actions would undoubtedly harm millions of Americans and corrode the foundations of our democracy.
