Halt DOJ Politicization and Restore Proper Appointment Processes

I am deeply concerned about the recent actions taken by President Trump that appear to weaponize the Department of Justice for political purposes. The indictment of former FBI Director James Comey, following the President's public urging, sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the independence of our justice system.
This is not an isolated incident. The firing of a US Attorney in Virginia for refusing to bring charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James, and the reported investigation into Democratic donor George Soros following the President's public statements, demonstrate a pattern of using the justice system against political opponents. Such actions are antithetical to the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
Furthermore, the use of "acting" appointments, particularly for US Attorneys, circumvents the proper nomination and confirmation process. This practice allows the administration to sidestep Senate oversight and potentially install loyalists rather than qualified, independent legal professionals.
I urge you to take immediate action to address these issues. First, demand that the DOJ cease any investigations that appear to be politically motivated. Second, call for proper nominations for all key DOJ positions, including US Attorneys, to be submitted to the Senate for confirmation. The 120-day limit on "acting" appointments should be strictly enforced.
Our democracy depends on an independent justice system free from political interference. The current trajectory risks eroding public trust in our institutions and sets a dangerous precedent for future administrations. As my representative, I ask you to speak out against these practices and work to restore the integrity of our justice system. The stability of our democracy and the principle of equal justice under law are at stake.
