Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
In the early hours of Monday, Elon Musk reposted a picture of a leaner, meaner version of himself dressed as a Roman gladiator with the caption: “I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus.” Musk added: “And I am.”
Good god. This is where the GOP has brought us.
You are now content with an unelected billionaire welding the power levers of our government. Even though no one seems to know, or admit, that he is any sort of actual official employee. He’s just rummaging around to see what he sees, then declaring it all fraudulent or woke or corrupt or whatever. Then he posts a ‘I’m saving the world’ meme.
And y’all nod and smile and give him a big thumb’s up. Hoping the toddler with too much power doesn’t turn his eye to you.
In the meantime you’re also being forced to grovel and figure out how to retrieve funds designated for your state that have been deemed extravagant by this guy that no one acknowledges is really doing anything. Even though the funds have been congressionally-approved and properly-appropriated.
Remember the good old days when you made laws, set budgets, and had power?
It’s hard to understand how you don’t understand that standing by complicitly to groom favor is also the death knell to your own position in the apparatus you hope to destroy. Bending the knee to kill the beast also kills yourself eventually.
My questions for the day…
Will you ever supply the American people with the truth of what going on with the clown show that is DOGE? Does anyone know what their goal really is? It’s one thing to tout figures and proclaim success without proof. Where the proof?
Why are agencies being decimated only to have whoever makes the decisions to do so then have to backtrack because, wow, we need nuclear scientists after all? A business may be able to cut staff just to figure out who’s actually vital to operations but that is no way for a government to run.
Who is making these decisions? Who is wielding the power necessary to tear down the government so quickly?
We all know the answer to that. Donald Trump approves of it all, but he hopes his fingerprints will never be found. He will accept the glory. But someone else will always take the blame. Always.
The ineptitude, malfeasance, ignorance, and cavalier attitude to governing in such a manner is mind-boggling in its incompetence.
The country does not like what we’re seeing. Someone better start leading.
