If Tariffs Are So Great, Why Do You Need a Rate Cut?

You sure do have a way of declaring things, don’t you? “Liberation Day” and all—like a true leader anointing himself the sole voice of authority. It’s precious how you always assume the Fed should just obey your wishes, even though it’s supposed to be independent. You must be absolutely beside yourself that Jerome Powell still hasn’t learned his place. Now, I know patience isn’t exactly your spiritual gift, so I’m just wondering—how long until you start calling Powell names again? Or are we going straight to encouraging your base to “help” him see things your way? You’ve always been so gifted at rallying people when someone dares to disagree with you. And since we both know how much you love cutting out the middleman, why not go ahead and issue an executive order putting yourself in charge of interest rates? I mean, sure, it’s completely illegal, but when has that ever stood in your way? You’ve always believed rules are for other people. I’ll be praying for you, President Trump.
